Yeah...allergic reactions can be a very scary thing. Most people don't know until they have a serious reaction. Had a friend whose sister had asthma and was allergic to several foods. She was at a party one day (think she was around 10 years old) and she had some food or cake with something that she was allergic to in it. She was dead before she hit the ground. By the time a friend's dad got there to start CPR, she was already cyanotic. Very sad for the family and the whole community who knew her. She was a great kid.

Those epi pens are pretty crazy. A buddy of mine was in paramed. training and they were practicing with dummy pens. On accident, he picked up a pen from the live bin and jammed it into his thigh. The spring released and he got an injection of epinephrin like a ton of bricks. He couldn't stop shaking the entire class. Puts you on a serious edge.

I remember in advanced phys when we cut out a turtles heart and placed it into an iso-solution and added various agents like epi to see the effects on the still beating heart. Fun fun.
