IF you can route the belt without rubbing or reversing the direction of pulleys... then its ok to do.
You will have to deal with the h-pipe tube. Either you can cut it off and crimp it shut... and then deal with the back of the heads with pipe plugs to block them off too.


Personally, I needed the dummy pulley cause of the S-trim..




and the old h-pipe was like this:



and the heads had the pipe plug from Home Depot:
