Man, my clutch had a slight chatter for a while now, but today i started it up and it has got a really bad one
, and i drove to the store, and on deceleration it sounds like a (howling) (clicking) noise? the tranny shifts fine, and it still whines a bit, im also not sure if its slipping, but my car feels like it lost a little power, from what i think may be slipping, cuz my car went from trapping 98 mph to 95? wtf? could the throwout bearing be gone? i had this clutch for over a yr in a half, many races on it with street tires? should i just replace the clutch? tommorow im gonna call ford and price the fms clutch, but i have to have my car during the week...thnx to anyone that can diagnose this problem, but regardless i know it's prolly time for a clutch. ------------------ 90 lx coupe: 175k miles, steeda water pump pully, hurst shifter, Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, ADS chip, aluminum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs. Tear it down and inspect it. I won't take long and if you need a clutch your right there. Install a new one. The whinning in trans not good. Make sure your fluid level is topped off or change.

Thnx, finally a reply, the whining has been there forever, i was told an input shaft, or countershaft is the problem (for the whining), but also told it wont hurt to drive with for a while till it might let go
, yes im gonna tear it down, i only have two jackstands, and a gravel driveway, but i'll manage, what should i look for, will the disc be in bad noticeable shape? I plan on upgrading the bearing retainer and so fourth, but my t-5 shifts decent, except 3rd gr sounds like it may be ready to start grinding, oh well i just want the clutch TO bearing ect...then i'll go from there...thnx again |
