The biggest drawback to platinum plugs is that they should NEVER be regapped. The platinum core in the center electrode is hair thin, and becomes extremely fragile after limited use. If you attempt to regap them, the odds are heavy that you will damage at least one, yet you won't realize it until you start to develop other drivability problems that will drive you crazy trying to solve.

Replace the plugs, and stay away from platinums.
