Yup the motor will effect the way the converter stalls too! When I put my converter in it stalled at about 2600-2800 rpms, now that I have done some more motor work it stalls at 3000-3100 rpms. When you say it stalls at 1600-1800 rpms, is that flash stall speed or with light acceleration? Converters will stall at lower rpms under partial throttle, but when you flash the converter the stall speed raises closer to its advertised rpm.
