thermostat question
I have a 180* thermo in my car. Isn't the purpose of going that low with that kind of thermo to allow the water to flow through the engin when the temp reaches 180*?
Well, what my question is: The car stays pretty cool when im not shifting (between the 'N' and the 'O'). But when I am city driving, it SOMETIMES gets to the middle of the guage (Bettween the 'R' and the 'M'). That just seems hot to me. Isn't that around the 220* mark? I would think that it should never get that high with my low temp thermo, right? I really would like my car to stay at around 180* or between the 'N' and the 'O' on the temp guage. Thanks in advance. ------------------ Green '94 GT conv. -- K&N filter charger, FMS 9mm wires, Accel hipo cap/rotor, 180* thermo, 14* timing, PRO 5.0, off road H-pipe in front of 2 chamber flow's, Steeda subframe connectors w/ crossbrace, stock, stock, stock, yeah and that's stock too. 180 is when it flows not the temp it keeps it. a 3-row might help it stay close to 180

when im in town but on highway it runs like 165-175 used to run 200-210 did make more power problem solved. car has an electric fan already just put a switch to turn it on when it gets hot and it stays at 175 in town could just chand fan sensor AND IT WOULD COME ON BY ITSELF. I have one suggestion for you. The factory guages are not worth nothing, call summit and order you some autometer gauges. Autometer is so much more accurate, and not to mention that they have numbers instead of "normal"!!! They are a straight forward install, then you can see exactly where your car is running.
