overheating questions!!!

I will imagine that your water pump is functioning properly and has good bearings, your system is filled with a max of 50% antifreeze, and you are experiencing actual overheating rather than just on the gauge, which could have a bad sender or other problem. Starting with the basics: Have you done any power creating mods between when when it was OK to when it began overheating? If so, the additional power will create additional heat and you may need a larger aluminum radiator if you don;t have one already. If you have a mechanical fan, you may want to replace the clutch if it has some miles on it. It may still appear to function, but may be turning too slowly to cool the motor at speed. Have you tried pressure testing or swapping out the radiator cap? What type of thermo did you use? The thermo can make all the difference with a cooling system. I have had good luck with the 180 deg. Edelbrock HP balanced thermos. I would not trust anything from a parts store, as the opening discrepancies you will find amongst similarly rated thermos can be huge. Also, the Edelbrock piece has a larger diameter opening area for added flow. Hope these ideas help lead to a solution.
