Not to try and be sarcastic or anything, but you know for a fact the thermostat is installed in the right direction, right? I know I put mine in backwards one day. Would run fine, then heat up real bad, then go back down. Took it apart and realized the problem. If its in right, what shape is your fan in? A lot of cracks or chips in it? Is the fan clutch still good, or is it going bad? Do you have an electric fan, if so, is it working? And the last thing I can think of is a head gasket possibly going bad. Hope this helps you some.
