the books usually say to adjust with the jam nut and lock them with the hex. if you give them a slight tightening with the jam nut and the hex after adjusting them, the jam nut will make the hex nut even tighter than you could get them with a hex key because the keys bend so easily. this should get them tight enough not to go loose again.
