Discussing Rod ratio is like discussing the universe ... you're never gonna get the same answer from any 2 people. My 2 cents worth is stay away from a rod that short ... with a stroke that long the cylinder wall side loading would be to great for my tastes. For a stroker in that motor, i'd stick with the 393 or maybe the 408 at the most, beyond that you are gonna start to have clearence problems and cylinder wall loading problems. If you want to get way up in the big cubic inch stuff, put a big block in it .... with the 460 motors deck height you can go monsterous in size with few issues.
I'm building a 372 long rod motor ... the oil ring is still above the piston pin hole and there are no clearence problems ... will that combo work ??? I'll let you know if i ever get it together? but it seemed like a good compromise to me and if there is one thing i am sure of, its that hot rodding is all about compromise
