Limit the regular season to something like ten games. Most conferences can get away with playing 8 conference games. That leaves you two out of conference games to schedule plus the playoffs. The only problem with this set up is that smaller school may miss out on the revenue they get when scheduling large schools early in the season since the large schools would probably schedule tougher competition for their two out of conference games.
