Possible lifter/rocker/pushrod going/gone bad. Or, exhaust leak. They both can sound very simular. Exhaust leak usually will change noise warm or cold. I had a cracked exhaust manifold one time. Sounded like a tank when I started it. But when it got warm the noise went away. See if you can rotate the pipes at all. Maybe a donut has went bad. (round gasket between pipe flang and manifold) Look real close between the head and exhaust manifold for black carbon deposits on the head or the manifold itself. (blown gasket) or crack. let us know.
