Without a shift light, your shifts and 1/8 mi. times are going to turn out inconsistantly. You might run a 9.8 one run, and a 9.4 the next. You really need a shift light if you plan on going to the track. Plus, the stock Tach is not the most accurate thing in the world. The MSd light is about $70, is three wires to hook up, and a 5 RPM pack is about $25. I would shift at around 5200-5400.
