it is possible to install the tilt column, however there are a few things that must be done. you must use the entire column. also, some of the trim will not fit with the small differences in the upper and lower parts of the dash. also, there is some other concerns. if the car is an automatic, you must also use the linkage for the shift interlock, and adapt that to your tilt column. use the steering wheel from the 88. consult shop manuals from ford for both year cars, it will give you exploded views of both columns to compare.
