HARTMAN VALVE COVERS ARE JUNK NEED TO KNOW WHAT I NEED TO GRIND OFF STOCK

You will need to grind the bolt holes flush with the surface of the cover, plus you have to grind away at the bracing in the corners and anywhere else they hit (see pic).

Get yourself some Dykem (part bluing dye) and paint the inside of the covers. Then, very gently slide the cover into place trying not to hit the rockers as much as possible. Since the rockers hit regardless this will be impossible, but try not to wobble them around too much and mark them up where you don't need to grind if ya know what I mean. Pull the cover back off and anywhere the dye was removed needs to be ground away. This is a lot of grinding to make them work by the way. It took me and my brother 2 hours taking turns to get mine done.

I have a set of stock covers that I have already ground on if you want them. I'll sell them for $30 + shipping. Since I live in Indiana too shipping will be around $12 I'm guessing. You may have to grind a bit more on them, but not as much as you would on fresh castings.

Oh yeah, my covers have the powder coating stripped from them too and I could even polish them up a bit if ya want them. Nothing fancy mind you
