lowering the car will not effect how high you can raise it it does however effect how easy it is to get a jack under it and as far as the starter is your car a stick or an auto im imangining its a stick and i agree it was a bit of a bitch to get to the top bolt as i remember if you can spray it with a ton of liquid wrench and walk away for a while maybe when you come back itll come out easier
