I've seen it both ways. Mine is under the car, which I honestly don't agree with. Stay away from heat, ie exhaust. We want liquid nitrous up at the engine, not gas. That's the idea behind the purge. With the line under the car near the pipes, it boils the nitrous in the line.

Either way is probably fine, just keep her cool!
