You will need at least one inch of it threaded in the block (the more the merrier), and enough of it sticking out of the block to get a good sized washer and the chain on it... I'd say at least 1 3/4" long.

THANKS ~ IT WILL BE LIKE YOU SAID, ''. . . AT LEAST 1in. OF THREAD INTO THE BLOCK. THE MORE THREAD IN THE MERRIER. (like the sound of that. . . lol)

SO, I'LL GET GRADE '8' BOLTS AND 1 3/4 OR MORE LENGTH ON THE BOLT, PLUS WASHERS TO GO WITH 'EM.
