i had this issue occur when going over bumps and turning. i thought it was the rack and pinion and even the bushings, it turned out to be the arm bars. they look like a lower case L. the parts were about $90 for both, and installation was about $60. can you here the sound if you nudge the wheel to the side with your heel? this when the car is standing still.

if one is creeking, chances are the other will start to creek soon, have both looked at.
