Did the threads in the head stud get galled up, not allowing the nut to go any further? Or is it possible the allen screw in the center of the poly-lock is too far down while setting the preload?

Thanks for the reply, I checked all that everything is fine, I said poly locks he has Stud Girdle on the motor sorry about that, Thanks Again, CAR9FAN I TRY SOMETHING TOMORROW

NINE second car and you have to ask about valve lash????

Time to find a new mechanic, and I don't care if he IS related!

You outta KNOW more about that engine bro! This just don't make sense. When I was running 11's I knew EVERYTHING about that engine, and I could literally tell if something wasn't right by the feel of the shifter!

9 sec cars aren't cheap to build, or maintain. If it really IS that fast, ya outta tighten up the reins on her a bit. Don't let just any monkey with a wrench work on that thing!

I Agree someone who knows nothing about a push rod V8 motor should not be working on it, But that said he want to learn about the motor and being his Brother i will show him what i know, I Rebuilded my first 289 when i was in high School and i do it has a HOBBY, Back to the car its just barly getting in the 9s and like all of us we always want to go faster. I think i told you it was a 69 351 w, Stroked out to a 393 and its a rollor cam come to find out all it was, Was the allen screw inside of the adjustment nut on the rocker,WE will be at MIR RACEWAY Sunday for test and tune if you want to come and watch iam hoping for some 9.70s mybe 60s, Have A Good One, CAR9FAN
