what are the benefits to having the 26 spline rather than the 10 spline?

'89 5.8L lx 5spd. 351W(349hp/384tq)-tfs twisted wedge(stage 2), rpm air-gap, comp cam(294/294:518/518) and lifters, kb .060 pistons(11.5:1), mac shorties, pypes o/r X, mac 2.5" all the way back, holley 750, march u/d pulleys...it's alive..it's back together and running strong

From what I've read tko's are stronger than t-5s right?? If he has the cash to blow he might as well have a better starting point IMO. I have not had experience with either transmission however. (other than my 4cyl t5 that is yet to be installed...)

Stock for stock yes.

FWIW, my stock T-5 is a freak, I've been 10's with it, launching at 6K and pulling 1.5 60ft's, although it was on the bottle so i don't count them. It's still going strong for me running high 11's at every event launching at 6k on ET streets. I hear the trmmecs are a little harder to shift than the stock trannies...but def a good investment.
