Default Re: 1995 Mustang GT stalls and won't start

Ignition module wasn't the problem.

2 months ago i replaced the distributor and the ignition pickup sensor.
Yesterday I replaced the cap and rotor. When I took the cap off, there was a ton of dirt in the distributor. I cleaned everything off, put on the new cap, and the car started.

Hopefully the car will run fine now. After it runs well, i'm thinking 93 Cobra intake, 65mm throttle body, and maybe some new rocker arms.

Thanks everyone!

OK, car kept stalling.
I took the rotor off again, and the distributor was dirty AGAIN.
I looked closely and realized it wasn't dirt. It was plastic shavings.

Seems that the distributor i installed was bad.
Got a new one under warranty, installed it, and haven't had any trouble since.

Maybe I got it taken care of.
Time will tell.

Thanks everyone!

Hey there!
Just remember a couple of things from a man who knows.
There may be more than one fuel line filter. Generally on in the fuelline before the pump, and one in the side of the carb/fuel control.

Also, back in the day, when someone (a bully of Fonzy) messed with you, a baggie in the gas tank was in order. there may be some object in the tank that periodically floats over the outlet hole and cuts off the fuel flow, rust for example.

Stalling is a sign of bad fuel fflow, not bad electrical. Hesitation, iratic idle, yes, but not stalling.
When the carb(a generic term) internal resivoir empties, and fuel pressure does not keep it filled, it stalls, the rpms drop and the engine starves for fuel. When the car relaxes the demand fo fuel, the poor fuel feed gets to catch up.

I speak from experience here, because i sold a 69' with the same problem. The guy who bought it called me and told me what the problem was, as I had replaced every electrical component, including the coil.

I'm pretty sure the 95 only has the one inline filter. Also, the mass air meters on these cars are tricky and can make the car stall if going bad, along with a handful of other electrical problems...I think the best thing for him to do at this point is to try to pull some codes so we can see what the ECU is trying to tell us..
