Default Re: Swapping Engines/Transmission

As far as physically putting that stuff in another car, the drivetrain will bolt right into any Fox based car with the right k-member and modification to the tranny cross-member. The main issue people run into is the differences in the wiring.
For my swap I had a donor car so I was able to use all that stuff on mine.
Also, someone mentioned that you need the Cobra ECM, which is not necessarily true. I know several people who have used their 99-04 GT ECM with a custom tune and they run fine. Just a pain to figure out the wiring.

I'm switching out my 4.6L to a 5.4L. both are 2 valve engines. If I install a.... cobra 4.6L dohv I need a different ECM. if you can give a link to where you can get your ECM redone/custom tuned from a single to a double it would save a lot of people some cash.I've never heard of anyone doing it, but then I'm not a mechanic and know nothing about the newer electrical on a car.

you dont need a new ECU... you just need for a good tuner to tune it.... a buddy of mine has a 4v with a C4 in a 98gt still using the stock ECU
