5th to 3rd nothing but a bogg...WTF???

i was on my way home tonight and i was messing around with a car next to me and when i shifted from 5th to 3rd the car just bogged it was kind of like it shut off, then i got off it and it came right back to life, i ran the **** out of it the rest of the way home and it did not do it again, any ideas on what might have happend???

306, stock heads ported , polished, milled 30 thou, 10.5/1 compression, forged pistons, 1,500 miles on motor. stock injected

but will be converting to carb this winter

mild cam, total lift 498. duration 224/224., it is an 88lx, it has never happen before!, have not pulled codes, ladt time i try the plug was wasted so i could not get it to hook righy , no conection
