![]() the '64-65 5 bolt engine blocks WILL work with later trans, but they do require that you change the bellhousing on c-4 autos to 5 bolt. Actually the design of the 64 5 bolt c-4 auto is crap... they changed the design in 65. Anyways, the bellhousing just bolts up to the trans... it's a simple unbolt, bolt up job... easier to buy new bellhousing then change engines IMO. I'm not sure what is involved in manuals since i've never owned one... and i'm not involved in early style toploaders and such. Sorry couldn't help more. I'm currently running a 5 bolt engine with a 68 auto... i just changed bellhousings to get to work. oh... in my sig i have 302, but that's actually a 289block with 302 parts...
