65's are very cool and different looking cars. If you can pick it up for a grand and the body is salvagable, it sounds like a decent deal. Just remember that finding body, trim and interior parts for these can be difficult as this was a one year only body style. Most of the suspension and structural stuff however will interchange with the Falcon and those parts can be found. In the things I wish I had done department, I sold a 65 6 cyl Comet hardtop for my aunt back in 98 - a beautiful car garaged since new, 52,000 original miles, zero rust, still shiny original paint, mint interior for $3,800. I truly regret not buying the car myself and doing a small block, 4 speed swap. Live and learn!
