Well, If it isn't the head gaskets failing then you may want to look at the water pump. On my 89 LX years ago, the pump went bad and I was going through coolant like crazy and I couldn't figure out why until I checked the pump and sure enough, the bearing went and the impeller stopped spinning.

Just an idea though.. Good luck..
