![]() I actually made a similar decision. It was between the Maxima and the Buick Regal GS, same as GTP but IMO more luxurious. I was purchasing new, and being a big guy 6'2", 240lbs, it was a no brainer. My feet kept getting caught on the pedals. I bought the Regal for about $8K less than the Maxima. If you're considering a Maxima, keep in mind that the auto is a HIGH 15 sec car, and the GTP is a low 15 to high 14 sec car, and for a $40 pulley, you could be a mid-low 14 sec car.
As far as GM reliability, the fit and finish on the Nissan is clearly better, but over the long term, the GM will be reliable. My father-in-law's 93 Regal has over 300K miles, and never had any work done other than the alternator, it is still going. Like the other's have said, either car is a good choice, but in the end the GTP gets my nod. Happy motoring. |
