If your going to run an aggressive cam that builds its power from 3000 RPM-6000 and higher, you might consider a Single Plane intake manifold, or a Weiland Stealth is a real good dual plane manifold.

I'm not sure how aggressive the cam you choose is. Can you put some specs up?

Another thing, if you Mill your heads your compression is going to be higher. If your running a big cam and have a set of heads that have been serouisly shaved, check your valve to piston clearances.

I'd probably go with a piston that gives you alittle more compression. (But they start getting expensive). BUt Cam specs dictates Compression needs, and I dont know the specs of the cam.

Something else to consider is Forged pistons wiegh more then Cast and alinimum pistons. Adding unneccassary wieght to the reciprocating mass and put a drag on preformance. Do you plan drag racing at the track alot, or adding a power adder?

I crank my old 289 up kinda high in the RPM, and its got Alunimum pistons and have had no problems after 30,000 miles (Except for several burnt exhaust valves). Its got around 11:1 compression (Alittle higher than I'd like but I got a little to mill Happy with the milling machine at the machine shop)

I run 14 Degrees advance with mechanical dist advance only, no Vaccum advance. I need to switch the wieghts in the Dist before I go hooking up the Vacuum advance. But I'm having a hard time finding a wieght set for a 20 something year old Mallory Dual point.
