Bull **** . Why do people keep giving it a bad rap? They're mad cuz they get beat my someone with NOS that didn't spend much money, so they spread rumors about it blower motors etc.

Get the NOS, as you said you dont race that much, and its there at the flick of a switch. Much cheaper than a blower setup, and you can always jet it for more hp.
