				 |  are the rims gonna fit? ive done some searching around and heard some mixed opinions. im looking into buying 5.95 backspacing ford cobra r wheels (used) with 255 40 bfg kd tires. im converting to 5 lug up front with an sn 95 setup (spindles etc.) and the rear is getting converted with svo 11.65 discs. i am removing the quad shocks btw. i really don't wanna hammer my rear wheel wells to get these rims to fit. the car has eibach sportlines also. am i going to have to buy the 6.45 backspacing r wheels for the back or can i get away with 5.95 17x9 wheels out back? thanks, d ------------------   THE MIGHTY NOTCH   |

				 |   I believe you will need 2 of each backspacing.  I looked into the R's when I did the M2300K brakes.  The 5.95 fronts and 6.45 rears. 				 |   The SN95 axles are 0.75" longer, which won't work with the 17x9" 5.95BS.  You could use these wheels with the stock length Ranger axles, but then I think you're stuck with the drums... you could use a bigger drum though... Another option is the 1998 cobra 17x8", 5.72" BS wheels, which look like the R's. A 255/40 tire would still be alright, and you could use these wheels all around (with the SN95 axles in the rear). They fit better up front too... 				 |   Also, you'll want 94/95 spindles.  The 96/97 move the wheel out 1/4", requiring fender work with the bigger tires.  Also the 94/95 tie-rod arm goes straight out, so bump steer isn't as much of a problem. The light-weight 2" dropped spindle/coil-overs/cc plates from www.ajeracing.com might be an option. It's $999, but looks sweet... and doesn't require a k-member to fix the lowered geometry! If I have the money, this is the route I'll take. I'll just keep the overweight stock LCA's and K-member... it'd be an easy swap, and you never hear of anyone breaking these stock components! |
