Question Where can I get Borla side exaust?

Ive been looking for the Borla side exhaust kit for my 97 GT for awhile now and I cant find it anywhere. I know that karkraft used to have it but not anymore. Does anyone know where I can get it??

The 2000 Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog has the exact kit that Borla used to sell. You can check www.borla.com but I don't think they carry the Rebel 500 kit (what I have on mine - check the sig for pics) anymore. M-5200-MJ in the FRPP catalog is the EXACT same kit with Borla muffs and SVO sideskirts. The catalog's number is (810)- 468-1356.
Give them a call and i'm sure they'll fill you in on price and everything.

Good luck and let me know what you find out.

Topless,
You're looking to add sidepipes to your car too? Or were you just tryin' to help find info for BlueThunder? I think the SN95 and the New Edge cars look great with side exhaust and it seems a few more people are doing it. I have had zero problems with mine clearancewise or otherwise.

Cool

Hi Stefen,
Yeah, I want the SVO sidepipes. I love the way they look. I've heard mixed opinions on them. I'm hell on speedbumps, and I've got tons of them where I live. So, you have no problems w/ them? Also, I hate to lose the sound of my Flows w/ the off road H-pipe. I dont want it any quieter. I hate to buy them, and decide I dont like the way it sounds. I know we've talked about this before, but I'm still in limbo. I really want them!

Well, it could be a toss up for you then. The Borla's are definately not as loud as the Flows but would still soud good without cats. It's a very tuned mellow rumble. They look kick*ss though and not everyone has them so it would be something different especially if you show the car.
I didn't see in your sig where you have the car lowered. If you did then speed bumps might be an issue. I have no clearance issues even though the pipes are lower than stock. The covers actually are lower than the pipes but they have quite a bit of "give" room if they were to be knocked. I looked under my car when I was in the driveway today and the pipes and muffs look like they are brand new still.
Just some info for ya just in cas you wanted to know.

Have a good one
Brett

Hey Brett,
I know I've asked this before, but is it possible to have the outers of the SVO's and keep the Flows w/ the H-Pipe, or If I'm gonna go w/ the SVO's just do the whole thing w/ the Borlas that it comes with? Can I still keep my H-pipe? My car is not lowered at all. I would like to, but if I get the side ex. I'm afraid I'll tear it to shreds on the speed bumps.

I've had the Borla side exhaust kit, and I really like the way it sounds. Quieter than flows at idle, but nice and throaty when you get on it...helpful around picky cops! I sold it about 8 months ago for $200, covers and all.

I wanted to reinstall my Saleen sideskirts, and also bc I figured I'm spending all this money on bolt ons to add 10 hp here and 15 hp there, and I don't really want to lose 9-10 hp on side exhaust just for looks. But to some this is not an issue, and they DO look sweet.

I also highly recommend avoiding the Dynomax kit. In my opinion it sounds ratty and unrefined, but again, you may feel differently. Try to find someone locally with either kit and see which you prefer. Good luck.

Topless,
Let me see if I can scrounge up the instructions that came with the kit. If I remember they showed a nice breakdown of how the pipes were routed. At the very least, it mounts up like any conventional catback so any hpipe combo will work. Keep in mind on the little Borla mufflers the inlet and outlet pipes are on the same side of the muffler. You can always fabricate a fit ( for the flows) but it might not be cost effective. A reputable shop could tell you.
As far as losing hp I can definately tell you I didn't. SOTP isn't super scientific but when you're pretty in tune with your car you can tell if there's a gain or a loss. There was no loss. The throttle felt more open. If you're still curious, let me try to snap a few pics of different angles on the car and that might help you visualize it a bit better. I'll try to make time at work tomorrow.

BTW - not trying to dispute you MustangBelle - i've not had the car on a dyno and all cars respond differently to mods but I "felt" no loss
See ya
Brett

Wink

Hey Brett,
That would be great, i'd love to see how that is all layed out. I guess just as long as it still has that throaty grumble when Im running, I could live w/ that. I was gonna say, I didn't realize you could lose h.p. w/ side exaust. I hope not. I've got a great mechanic, but unsure if I want to make the job any more difficult by having to fabricate a fit. Any info you have you can throw my way. Thanks for the input!! Topless

I experienced NO H.P. loss, and thats what I was worried about when I decided on getting it. If I lost 9-10 H.p. , I am pretty sure I'd feel it. As far as avoiding the Dynomax kit? It sounds bad @$$! 3-4k is the best sounding. IMO Ps- I'm not arguing or anything, just statin' what I know.

Sorry I didn't get these up sooner. These are just a few quick and dirty shots and a scan out of the Borla instructions that might shed a little light on clearance, routing, and the like.

The car is filthy so no comments

Looks great, just not my cup of tea. I was leaning toward getting the side exhaust too but I thought the rear end looked boring without some nice crome tips sticking out. Besides, seeing dual exhaust is the fastest way to know it's a GT or Cobra so it keeps those pesky ricers from trying to pass me.

BTW.. isn't it nice to be able to call that "dirty".

Thanks for the thumbs up guys!
cad614 - That is one sweet ride you got there. That's the stalker kit right?
Topless -
If you need them for reference I can just email the uncompressed files to you. They are roughly 900kb a piece. They would print much better that way. Email me at bhigh@kscable.com if that's what you want. I got my set off a guy at a car show in May of 99. He had them on his car for a month and then went a completely different route with his car. Actually there was only about two weeks of driving time while they were on his car so after I had them installed they "stunk" for a while
I paid $350 for them used and had them painted and installed for a couple hundred more. I would have tried it myself but... let's just say it wouldn't have looked the same...
They come unpainted but mine were painted perf. red by the guy that had them before.
My car is not lowered and I have Tokico shocks and struts so it might actully sit a tad higher than it used to. I don't want to lower it 'cause i'm afraid to lose that 4x4 look in the wheel wells
Did I miss anything? Just email me if you want me to send those pics.

Have a good one

Question

Hey Topless,
Today's Friday and I emailed the pics to your msn account on this past Monday but I just realized that my email here at work isn't working for some reason. I don't know when it stopped working so I don't know if you got the pics or not. I don't want you to think I was never going to send them so if you didn't get them let me know. At that point i'll re-send them from my home email. Just let me kmow and have a good one - sorry for the trouble.
