![]() Anyone have a good or bad experience with a mustang kit? Which vendors should I avoid? Which route should I take, in terms of having the shop use their own materials or just buying the kit and having them install it? I need to replace the headliner, carpet, front and rear seats...I would also like to replace the sound deadning material with something thicker/quieter. As always I am interested in keeping it original. What kind of prices should I be charged for this type of work? I figure I could be charged anywhere from $400-$1000 depending on quality of workmanship and how much of a sucker they think I am. Thanks.

![]() You didn't specify what year or model your car was, so I'm not sure if what I'm about to say is of any relevance to your situation, but, here it goes anyways.
I just recetly finished a complete intereior restoration on my 65 coupe. I ordered all my stuff in one kit from Laurel Mountain Mustang. It included all the things that you mentioned plus door panels, watershields, windlace, underlayment, sunvisors, dash pad, kick panels, door sill trim and some other smaller odds and ends. The kit was a little over 700 (for the pony kit) after shipping but I was pleased with what I recieved. All the products come from top of the line manufacturers so you know that you are getting pretty much the best stuff on the market (TMI upholstry, Corvex moldings, etc). That doesn't mean it always fits perfect, but better than some of the stuff out there. Other places (like mustangs plus and canadian mustang) have similar kits available, most are not as comprehensive as the one I got (and therefore less expensive too). I installed everything myself becuase I didn't have enough money to pay an upholstry guy to do it. The headliner is really tricky( I needed some help for that one), so I would recomend paying to have it done, but everything else you can probably do yourself without too much trouble. I hope that answers your question.
