Default H-pipe question

Hi all,

I'm in the process of purchasing a 93 GT. I have a friend that has the exact same car. He took the stock H-pipe and hollowed out the cats. Now, I would never do this as this would be breaking this states pollution control laws. If I was to use a set-up like it I would only run it at the track. I was just curious as to how the hollowed out cats will effect his O2 sensors? I have also not heard his car run with the hollowed H-pipe. Would it be way to loud?

Well I don't know about the sensors but it would definately be louder. I did the same thing in an 85 I had.

Well I'd predict they would react the same way my 95GT did when I completely removed the Cats and left the sensors alone: The car had more power and sounded way cooler!

Go for it!! Before we got rid of the emissions laws here in FL! (a great day that was!!) Everyone just ran off-roads and hollowed out cats all year till they had to do emissions, then they put the cats on for inspection. I had no problems with O2 sensors, and neither did anyone I know.

summit sells a less restrictive h-pipe with cats in it that it claims is still emissions legal personaly id just get a regular off road h-pipe i like the sound of thexhaust note of the straight h combined with some flowmasters just swap it out come test time i cant think of anyone that hasnt cheated on at least one test in their life

You can smell my car more. Especially if you are in an enclosed area (not inside, just where the air doesn't move).
