50th Anniversary Vette
Just wondered if you guys and gals had heard, the 50th anniversary vette is supposed to have a 427 with 520 hp/520 torque. It's only avaliable in a gold color I think and it's NA.
I'm not brand loyal, although I do prefer Fords, but to me that's impressive. I don't care to even guess the price, but it's supposed to be targeted at the new Vipers, so I guess price might be compariable. The regular vette is going to 365 hp and the ZO6 is going to 425 hp too. Just providing the info, so don't flame the messenger.

That would be one monster of a vette and i would love to see it produced as lng as someone in my area bough one so i could at least see it. But i will believe it when i roll up to a 427 2003 corvette at a light and it proceeds to show me tailights.

2003 Corvette
I wouldn't be at all surprised if GM went this route with the 50th anniversary 'Vette and I would applaud it as well as respect it. I mean, who doesn't respect 500+ HP in a street car?
Unfortunately, this kind of 'Vette falls into the 'Exotic' car class and is usually far beyond the reach of the average performance-lovers price range. So, mostly middle-aged fat cats buy them and they never race or even appreciate what they have. A shame but then, how many younger guys do you see in 'regular' late-model 'Vettes? That's what makes the Mustang such a great car...affordable power and style for the price of a Honda Accord. That was the whole point of the original Mustang concept in '64 and it still holds true today. Sure, I'll admire and respect a 427/500HP Corvette but I prefer to drive a Ford Mustang. |
