1968 Mustang Newby
I am new to this board. Lot's of members here. Looking forward to learning more about Mustang with you all.
I have had it for 3 years. I was told that the engine was a 351 W however I recently change the oil pan gasket and the only one that would fit was a 351 C. So I guess it's a 351 C? My intake manifold is a 302 Boss.... I have alot to learn. I have been thinking about selling it. I love it too much though. Even if has just been sitting in a garage. I hope to be able to identify the engine with your help. I am not sure what kind of engine it is. I know the heads have been ported. Looking at the crank shaft and the oil pump and pistons from below the inside of the engine is sparkling clean! Here is a pic I took of it with my 2000 ZX3 Focus behind it.

One thing for sure is that is not an original motor. Mustangs did not come with 351 for 68. There are easy visual ways to tell if it is a winsdor or a cleveland someone else here i am sure can answer that for you alot better than i can.

To tell if it is a W or C an very easy way is to look at the fuel pump.
If the attaching bolts are side by side [ 3 and 9 o'clock] it's a W. If the attaching bolts are verticle [ 12 and 6 o'clock] it's a C. The cleveland had the timing cover built into the block. Cleveland has wider valve covers too. A 302 Boss was a 302 Windsor block with Cleveland heads and a unique manifold adapted to it.
