![]() SOB!!!!!!!!
The car was smashed to holy hell before I got it. It's going back tomorrow. There is no way I'm keeping into it. Superior Ford got a service call from me tonight, the power window motor on the drivers side quit working. What they found, was what excitement, and hot temps along with bright sunshine had me missing. The 1/4 panel, the door, the entire front end has been replaced. The car has been on a frame rack, etc etc etc. None of this was disclosed to me, I'm getting out right now!! |

![]() Oh man, that sucks!! So what are you going to do now? You still looking for a new GT? If I were you, I'd try to pick up a 96-98 cobra. They're selling in my area for like 12-14K, in real good shape. Good luck!

Well, that stinks. You're lucky you found the damage in time to cancel the deal and get out of it. Did you run a CarFax on the vehicle? If not, there's a lesson for all of us. Even on year-old cars, stuff happens and we don't want to be stuck with the potential problems. Hope this works out with you getting an even better Mustang. |

![]() I'm waiting for the General Manager to get back to me. I've already been there this morning. Talked to the guy who sold me the car, and I talked to the sales manager.
They had me bring it to their collision center, who verified it has been hit pretty hard, and the front of the car, along with the entire drivers side had been replaced. Here's the full report on damage that I know of. Nose, reinforcement panel, both fenders, hood, windshield, airbags, drivers door, drivers side quarter panel, complete repaint job, frame rack, fender mounting rails have been worked on, the front frame that bolts the reinforcement panel and fender panels together has been broken loose and rewelded. The Carfax came up with nothing. My Consumer Guide Auto Check came up with nothing. Superior Ford's service database came up with nothing. Basically, the accident wasn't sent through the proper channels, and since the car wasn't officially "totalled" none of those checks will work. I have a hard time believing $10-15k of work could have been done without the financing company (likely Ford Motor Credit) knowing about the damage. Right now, it looks as though they are listening to me, and hopefully the General Manager will let me out. There isn't anything on their lot that I can do an exchange for, that won't cost me an arm and a leg more I don't think. I'm going to work with them as much as I can, but I think I just want out. This has not been a cool experience, but the guys at Tousley Ford are at least working with me. As for the guys at Superior Ford, it was pretty awesome what they did for me. I had an entire team of techs and service people with flashlights looking at my car, and they started working on it the second I got it over there. It was 10:00PM. I can't say how much that meant to me. I didn't have them replace the window motor, and they had to charge me some labor, so they went ahead and only billed me a $29.99 inspection fee. Really good guys. |

![]() Okay, to add to my reply to your other thread... You took some nice pictures of a beautiful looking car. I'm so sorry to hear about your discovery, but I'm thrilled that you were so on top of it, and have handled it so well. You're a good man, Kell, and I know you'll work things through. I'm sorry you have to go through such a headache, but better now than later!
Take care, -Chris

![]() Something is very fishy here. A 2001 with $15,000. in damage would be considered a 'rolling total wreck' by any insurance company. The extensive damage was repaired but yet no 'official' reports of it exist a anywhere? How is that possible? I strongly suspect the VIN was altered in some way.
Where did the car come from? Auction house? Fine. They have to have a record of where they received the car from and who the finance company (or outright owner if he/she paid cash) was. I seriously doubt the previous owner paid $10 to 15 large out of his/her own pocket to have a brand new car repaired, although it's theoretically possible, of course. Moot point anyway as you're probably going to be able to negotiate yourself out of this deal due to the severe damage the car has had and the fact that the previous damage was undisclosed to you, honestly or not. It's a 'bad faith' situation; you bought an almost-new car with the justified expectation that it was not a near-totaled-and-repaired vehicle. It wasn't. Whether the dealer knew about the damage or not, you have no obligation to go through with this deal. The vehicle was manifestly not as it was represented. End of story. |

![]() Well, a car won't be totalled until it hits 70% of book value. If a 2001 had $13000 of damage to it, it wouldn't have been totalled. Actually, if it was early on, it probably could have been up to $15k.
Say Joe wrecks his GT. Joe brings the GT to Discount Auto Body. Discount does all the work, and bills Joe's insurance company. Since the vehicle isn't totalled, and there was no lapse in coverage, the insurance company isn't going to report the problem to Ford. The accident and claims information is considered of a personal nature, and according to the insurance companies, if the repair is made properly, there is no value loss to the car. The tide is turning on that thought. State Farm just lost a huge lawsuit in GA over that. The state alleged that no matter how small the repair to the car was, the vehicle will never be worth as much as one that has never been through an accident. Etc etc. Anyway, the dealer took the car back, so I'm out. Read, "Finally done." |
