Angry I hate banks

To make a long story short, I have been trying to secure funds in order for me to buy out a carburetor rebuilding business. I checked my bank account online last night, and it said there had been a substantial deposit. I was on cloud nine. I tried to go to sleep 3 times, and couldn't do it. Well, I just came down and checked the account again, and the deposit has been withdrawn. Apparently someone deposited money into my account by mistake, and corrected it.

It's like finding a winning lottery ticket, and then finding out the ticket expired yesterday.

Suddenly I'm very tired.

Take care,
-Chris

Long story.

I guess I knew better anyway, but I allowed myself to think that the funds had been approved, and deposited into my account.

Take care,

Angry Banks are evil

I've always seen banks as a necessary evil.

Sometimes as simply evil (they never make a mistake).

That was a cruel experience and obviously upsetting.

I hope you get the loan; that would at least help balance things out. Let us know.

Banks suck.

In Canada they make Kazillions of $$$ a year in profit and still charge everyone up the yingyang for service.

I wish people would rebel and not put up with that kind of thing, but I guess that's Canadians, right?

Well, that's how they make that kazillions a year in profit.

I simply don't bank at places that cost me to do so. Here's where I currently bank: http://dcu.org

No checking account fees.
No minimum balance.
Free billpayer.
Free checks.
No ATM fees.

I know what you mean Chris, when Marty was overseas while he was in the guards, he has told me they shorted his pay so there would be another deposit,,ok well there was so I figured pay off some small bills that way when he came home he could take some time off from work and relaxe well it did happen that way he got to relaxe but the bank dep. the money and I wrote the checks and next thing I knew the checks started to bounce so I called the bank of course had to go there in order to get it straightend out...anyway, they had deposited someones income tax in my acct. then took it out without any notice to me and guess what bounce, bounce, I was so pi**ed...well since they made the mistake they paid all the charges I was getting from the checks and I got it straighted out...but they tried to make me FEEL bad cause they had to fire the girl that did it...Yea I felt bad but da** she put me through he** ok this is long, well hope all works out for you and you get the loan..keep us posted..Odie

Angry banks= p.i.t.a.

Of corse I have a story too!
Last year, when I renewed my subscription to 5.0, I wrote them a check for $11. something....anyways...
I got a call from the bank telling me I need to make a deposit!!!! I'm like WTF??? I new I had $$ in the bank. Evidently the bank cleared the check to 5.0 magazine.....FOR OVER $1,100!!!!!!!!!
I came unglued!!!! Needless to say I had a few checks bounce, and the bank DID eat the cost of all the insf. check charges!

Here is an idea: If your bank is so bad, it's very simple to go to another.

Look, bankers are human too you have no idea what they go through day in an day out (ever had a bad day at work?) or maybe you weren't able to read a note or instructions someone SCRATCHED on paper (that they didnt want to write anyway?) or how 'bout this one; "Well if you people just do your job this wont happen!!"

With that said; the dentist, post office, bank, PTA meetings, repair shop, Court & the inlaws are just some places some of us just don't want to deal with - but thats life. So ease up on them a little.

And yes, I do understand we all work hard for our money and to have someone treat it like dirt sucks bad to say the least ! But when they make good on the mishap, just take a step back and let it go .

I mean, hey, did ya ever offer to fix a problem at work an your boss just went on & on & on & on about it till ya wanted ta knock the liv'n**** out of him only to "smile N choke it down" even though you were not at fault?

Exclamation Letting it go

induction:

It appears that you missed the point of this forum, as well as PKRWUD's post.

When people at institutions we have to deal with and that are important to our life - like banks - screw up, it causes a great deal of anxiety and unnecessary frustration as well as frayed nerves while we attempt to straighten it all out.

Bounced checks - due to the bank's mistake - can be a real hassle and the bank 'making good' on them is no favor, it's their error that caused the problem to begin with.

Modern life can be difficult; making a living, personal relationships, social obligations and so on all eat up our time and energy. When we're faced with an unnecessary problem due to incompetence or inattention to detail on someone else's part, it's frustrating and eats up even more of our time and energy, just to fix a problem someone else created due to their error.

This forum is one place for folks confronted with these problems to vent. If the threads bore you, skip them. Don't wag your finger and, in effect, tell folks to 'deal with it'. That's useless. You deal with your problems your way, others will deal with them their way, and this forum may be an outlet for some to do that. So what?

On the internet, we're basically anonymous so you have no idea of what some of our members who post here have been through or may be going through in their lives. Some may have problems you couldn't even begin to handle, so don't assume that everyone is just dandy and that they can simply 'deal with it' whenever a problem is thrust on them by anothers' mistake.

Perhaps that's easy for you to do and that's fine, but you can't know what other's are already 'dealing with', so I would advise you not to attempt to lecture anyone as to how to cope. You - nor I - simply don't have enough information to do that and if they want to complain, why is that a bad thing? It isn't, as far as I can see.

Most of us 'let it go' all the time, but a little complaining and venting on an open internet forum won't hurt anyone and may be just what someone needs to help them 'let it go'.

So, take your own advice: let it go.

Easy fella. I'm not saying bankers suck, I was just venting.

Someone somewhere made a mistake that happened to coincide with something I was hoping for. I never would have spent any of the funds without first verifying them. I've made that mistake before. I completely funded my bank's Christmas party in 1994 with the fees they charged me because of mistakes they made.

No, this time it was just an emotional let down. A big one. Mr 5.0 hit the nail on the head; I was just venting. If I had been slaming anyone specific, you would have known.

Take care,
-Chris

The thing that bothers me the most is the ATM charges. Basically, the banks make a complete killing on them. They have been confronted, and limited with them, but the absolutely refuse to give them up. Simply because they make soooo much profit off them.

Regardless, if the banks aren't hittin you, somebody else will be. Hehehe.

Well Mr 5.0 are you a lil tense today are what? As for the point of this forum no I didn't "miss it". You see maby just ,maby if you read YOUR post/reply ya know the part about "Wag your finger & tell folks to deal with it ". It may appear you need to look in the mirror! If venting is the point of this forum then I did no wrong . Its how I feel . So why is it you feel the need to be big man on the soap box ? Look you have my respect and I'm shure that of meny others I look at some things in a different light because you do bring so much to the room (I me that in a good way) So Debate, vent ,laugh, learn ,teach, cry,or just visit life will go on thats what i mean by let it go. PKRWUD I ment no harm nor did I attempt to take a shot at anyone sorry . Maby if I was to attempt to write a "BOOK" on "EVERY "subject posted some people may better understand the point of this forum an that there soapbox may need a once-over Anyway, sorry about the screw up by the bank thats sucks and I wont screw up your account anymore K lol. Dam* all I wanted to do is vent a lil on the subject but somehow ................ guess I better just let it go.

Even though it wasn't an extremely intense thread, by any means, I thought I'd just try to lighten it up a bit.

Exclamation Clarifications

induction:

Your post appeared to me to be telling folks here to stop complaining and we're getting a lot of that lately. Too much.

There seems to be a misunderstanding about the fact that the Blue Oval Lounge forum is meant for just that; venting, complaining and whatever one wishes to post about. PKRWUD can take care of himself but as administrator I feel it's my place to make the case when I see a trend that seems to find fault over others posting valid complaints and that was the point of my message to you, which - I thought - was clear.

I don't want members to start to feel that if they complain about something in their life, others will jump on them and tell them to 'deal with it'. I simply gave you the same advice you gave PKRWUD. Obviously you didn't care for it, and so, I assume my point was made.

As for me, it's obvious that I have strong opinions on most everything and no, I don't write in shorthand or slang so it takes more than a few sentences to express myself.

I assume those who are poor readers or easily bored will simply ignore my posts and those who are interested will read them. Please don't read my messages and then make snide remarks about the length. Simply respond to the point, if possible. If you can do so in a few words, fine. If not, take the space you need. I do. I'm a very fast reader, so a 'long' post takes me less than 90 seconds to read.
No big deal.

As for complaining, well, I have to admit that I'm getting a bit weary of being accused of being called things like 'a big man on a soapbox' every time I express an opinion that someone doesn't like or feels somehow offended by. It gets old.

Over the five years that I've been on this forum I've been accused of being a Nazi, having a dictator complex, thinking I know everything, refusing to debate someone's absurd argument, being arrogant, being stupid, having a big ego and many other variations on the same theme.

I'm used to it now and I don't mind as much as I once did (being told you're an idiot and on an ego trip a hundred times will do that ) but most of the folks who make these kinds of comments can't argue their point or simply don't like being told they may be wrong about something. Too bad.

Everyone doesn't think like you - or me - as the case may be, and the fact that others call you or I on our opinions or actions is not an attack on our character but should be seen as an opportunity to convince the other person of our position. Some, like Unit 5302 , PKRWUD and a few others here do that effectively and I admire them for it.

You may have noticed that Dan and I don't tolerate flaming and useless name calling on these boards and it's clear that the site is better for it. Many newer members have told us this.

That's also why I encourage members like Unit 5302 who has almost as many opinions as I do and usually differs with me to some degree. He can be obnoxious but he'll also consider another point of view and argue with it effectively. When Kell mutes the sarcasm and sharp tone, he's very effective as well as helpful. (hint hint).

In any case, be aware that I'll be posting my opinions here for some time to come and you may simply ignore them or respond to them as you wish, but despite the length, I'll try to be civil if not always smiley-face polite. I only ask that others here do the same and if anyone has a need to vent, please do so, within the bounds of good taste, of course.
