I got my 3.73's installed here in Dallas at Lonestar Performance. The gears rean me $179 and the installation was a little over $200. With the gear oil and everything I paid just over $400.

400 is pretty good. No matter what, don't pay over 500 for the whole job. (ie: 300 for install and speedo, bearings, oil all that stuff...)

Thanks,

It's about a 3 to 4 hour job. So at say $60 to $80/ hour for labor your looking at anywhere between $180 to $320 for labor. I would also recommend buying new heavy duty axles while you're having it done. I put the Steeda 31 splines on when I did my gears, they ran about $320. Why not have fun and turn the wrenches yourself and save yourself some money? Find another Mustang enthusiast that works on Mustangs in your area to work along side with you. To me, working on my cars is half the fun of owning them.

I'am also buying some 4.10's in a few days and was considering doing it myself but ring and pinion swaps are tricky and I'm only 16 and haven't done one myself. Are there any specialty tools you need for the job? I'm pretty sure you need and in/llb torque wrench. I also don't have a lift which would make it a lot easier. I'am a pretty mechanic knowledgeable guy and have done quite a bit of work on cars before but do you think I could pull the swap off in the driveway over the weekend with basic hand tools?
