Talking no mufflers

ok you are all stating that with no mufflers you will get to much back pressure, but have any of you actually tried putting a pipe in place of the mufflers to connect to the tail pipes, i am thinkin maybe this will clean up some of that unwanted popping sound, if anyone has tried it this way let me know. Plus another thing is that you say to run with an off-road h-pipe, I am looking for the most inexpensive way right now to get my car to sound mean, any other suggestions would be appreciated.
