hey guys,
i'm new here i would like some info and input from some mustang owners..... i am currently thinking about getting a 88-90 mustang gt.......a friend of mine knows a guy who is selling his for $2500........i don't have that must save up yet, but the guy wants to trade my truck for his car... my truck is a 93 chevrolet sport truck with 148000 miles on the body and tranny.. the engine has about 60000 miles. the guy wants to just have an even swap and my truck is worth more then his car(about $4500-$5000)....... what do u guys think.... also, do any of u guys know of any websites that have horsepower and torque ratings of mustangs and the gears they came with from the factory, and help and input would b greatly appriciated......... also i haven't seen the car yet, but my friend says its it really good condition, but i am gona check it out this weekend......what do u guys think of this deal.......thanks for the help......... later

Then why would you want to do that ?
My opinion NO ... unless i'm missing something, you're trading a $4500 truck for a $2500 car ... that just sounds like bad bidness to me

right that does sound like a bad deal, but i'm gona see if the guys wants to give me about $2000 and his car for my truck. the only thing is he wants to sell his car....... but he is a chevy fan like my self and he doesn't really have to worry about money either so yeah... but like i said i'm gona look at the car this week end and drive it and all that good stuff... guess i'll have to ask again when i have all the details about his car.

and good sites for horsepower and torque ratings for the 86-93 mustangs

thanks again guys

I think stock numbers for any of the 87-93 5.0 liters is something like 225 horse and a hair less torque... like 200 or something.. I'm just guessing... but I think the real draw to these cars is the limitless customability (is that even a word?). You can get anything youy could imagine for this car... form turbos to superchargers. you can get stroker kits and nitrous kits and they are all reasonably cheap for the most part... and you can find parts anywhere... and that makes our life easy... sure you can do the same to the camaro and firebirds... but in general the mustang is small and light... so with some mods you can get a prety good horsepower to weight ratio going... though they arent much fun in teh snow..

The torque is either 280 or 300 ft/lbs. It changed somewhere in the regime of the fox, I just don't know exactly when.

i never would have guessed that the toque numbers would be so high... but there ya have it... though it seems with so much room for STROKING the 5.0 there wouldnt be a big stroke to begin with
