Post Aerospace brakes

Are these ok for running on a street car or are they a track-only kind of thing? They look like quality pieces, but I'm concerned that they're not made for street driving. Anyone have any insights?

Unless they've just come out with a street model, they are not streetable. They will heat up really quicky and are only designed to stop the car at the end of the dragstrip.

Anybody have any recommendations as to what to get? I've been looking at the Baer Sport kits, but that's like $1300 or something just for the fronts. And I'd consider the FMS M-2300-K kit but I like my 16" wheels and don't wanna shell out more money than I already have for new 17" wheels.

I recommend the factory brakes. Work good enough, and their FREE!

Check them out. They have a variety of upgrades, and they're reasonably priced. You could contact them and ask if they have upgrades that will allow you to keep your 16" wheels.

Aerospace does offer a street brake kit that has heavier rotors then the race kit.

Moxie-

Yep...tried them. They never answered me back. B@stards. But the only thing I've seen from them so far is the Force 10 kit which requires bigger wheels.

Mach 1...what's this "factory brakes work well enough" stuff all about? Do you own a Mustang with factory brakes? If so I'm suprised to hear that. Maybe it's cuz you have a '93 and bigger brakes than me. Now matter how hard I slam on my brakes I can't even make the tires bark. It's caused very many near-misses for me. And as fast as I drive on the street, I need to haul my car down quickly.

Remember Mach he's got an 84. But your brakes are either out of adjustment or something, because you should be able to bark the tires when you stomp on them. I would get a brake job, new brakes or something. Unless you running 10's on raod racing hardcore , you really don't need to get those 13" baer brakes. Get new factory brakes would be your best bet. Maybe.

Or you could just perform a conversion from a wrecked cobra or lincoln. I believe this site or the corral will have such article that explains this process in detail. You may luck out and find calipers and rotors and any additional bracketry for a good deal less than these kits above. If you wish to put a nice set of brakes on the car then you will need to up the wheel size. The benefits of the 17 or 18 inch wheel will pay for themselves in no time, plus it will show off the new brakes nicely. It all depends on what you intend to do or not do with the car.

You might try finding some SVO calapers for your GT I have a complete SVO suspension,4 wheel disk and they stop my car just fine even at high speeds and my car has 16 inch wheel also mine is a 5 lug so that may be a problem for you

If you haven't done it already, go get the spindles rotors and calipers from an 87-93 car. This upgrade makes a huge difference especially if you get stainless steel caliper bushings and better brake pads (it is night and day compared to the 10" rotors). You could add the ssbc rear disc kit, then go slotted rotors or get a set of Lincoln front 73mm calipers. This will give you excellent brakes at a much lower price and you can keep the 16" wheels.
