Default How I would write the speech tonight...

I wonder how close this will be:
-----------------------------------------------------------

My fellow Americans,

It is my solemn duty this evening to inform you that a key time in history is occuring before our very eyes.
A different day dawned on September 12th 2001. Our large oceans no longer protected our homeland. It was painfully instructed to us that the forces of evil know no boundary, or sense of reason. Box cutters and four civilian airliners were bastardized to serve the will of murderers.
As I took my oath of office, I swore to defend the Constitution, and along with it, the people it governs. Acting upon my oath, my administration and the mighty United States armed forces have freed the good people of Afghanistan from a tyrannical regime of destruction and hate. Even now we help the good people of Afghanistan find true peace and prosperity as each one of them are now free of the bonds tyranny. I have committed to help them in every way possible to flourish and succeed.

Tonight, under my orders as Commander in Chief, we have, with our allies, accumulated over 250,000 troops just outside the borders of Iraq. Some call this a rush to war. But this is not a new conflict, as it has been a constant battle of words, posturing, and weapons for the last 12 years. Saddam Hussein has ignored and broken one cease-fire agreement and 18 UN resolutions. He continues to lie, posture, and evade the good people of the world as he hides his weapons of mass destruction. He continues his rampant killing of innocent Iraqi civilians, now numbering in the tens of thousands. Saddam has paid the families of known terrorists. Known terrorist camps reside within his borders. Known terrorists have sought shelter in his country. Considering his past, his allegiances, his capabilities, and his lies, I consider his regime a clear and present danger to the United States of America. Does one not question his willingness to use weapons of mass destruction after he has used them on thousands of Iraqi civilians? Does one not question his willingness to fund, equip, and profit both monetarily and personally from future terror attacks against the property and lives of the United States of America?

He has the capability, the willingness, the contacts, the associations, and most importantly, he has the weapons that can wreak havoc upon a peaceful people. We lived with blinders on before September 11th, 2001. Those blinders have been removed. We now see clearly. The U.S. government and our allies have agreed to remove this threat. We have, for years, attempted to resolve this issue through the world organization of the UN.
Unfortunately, the threat remains.

With today’s technology, it is much easier to detect a missile launch than to find someone carrying a small nuclear device. It is even possible to shoot down in incoming ICBM, but it is much harder to detect a suitcase on a transport ship in an American harbor.

Whether the weapon is chemical, biological, or nuclear in nature, the largest threat does not come from a high technology missile.
It can come from one evil, demented mind with a cursed cause.

Therefore, with the help of our Allies, this threat to the world will be eliminated, peacefully or militarily, not within months, weeks or days, but within hours.

Starting at this moment Saddam Hussein and his regime have 24 hours to leave the country of Iraq. The window for negotiation has closed, and the chance for peace is in Saddam’s hands.

May God be with our troops and allies in the coming days.

May God be with the Iraqi people who yearn for freedom.

May God be with the United States of America.

Goodnight

Well I thought the President's speach was one of the best I've heard as of late. There was no beating around the bush. He got right to the point. Gave 48 hours instead of 24 (I would have liked 24 as well Hammer). It's nice to know that our President is more concerned with the safety of America instead of the opinions of others. I also like how he criticised the UN for not doing it's job.

Sure many oppose war now, but just wait and see how many countries end up supporting it.

May God bless the brave men and women who are fighting over seas for our freedom. Let freedom ring.

One of the things I have admired about our President is his unwavering dedication to keeping his word. He said he would go after the ones responsible for the atrocities of terrorism and through every conceivable criticism from the world and some so-called Patriots of this country he has stuck to that promise. I am so thankful we have someone in charge with the gumption to go after these animals.

I think that was an excellent speech! He didn't fluff it up for the History books, nor did he screw it up with his candid dribbles! And he fought hard to keep that stupid smirk off his face, don't get me wrong I'm all for Bush, but he looks like a retard sometimes.

And if Al Gore was President, there would have been MORE terrorists attacks in the USA and anybody that was still alive in this country would be on Welfare!

Nice speech Hammer,

I was hoping he would have said this:

Times Up.......now it's your ***.

I fully expect Saddam to use WMD but the question will be whether or not his commanders will follow his orders. Hopefully the men and women protecting us will be alright and won't suffer many causalties.

And never forget what the French did and boycott their products whenever possible.
For that matter I have decided I will not watch anymore shows or movies that have in their cast any of the commie pinko liberal actors or actresses that have come out against our President. I would hope you all would do the same.

President Bush's speech was direct, stern and unwavering. I like that in the President.

As for the french, screw them! Chiraq can kiss my *****. He and his government stabbed us in the back on 1441 and for that he and his country should pay. No french wine for me, no french anything. As far as I'm concerned his decitful ways and bending over backwards for Saddam make him almost as bad as Saddam. The french knew all along what cards they were going to play and lied to us about their intentions. Then they worked over Russia and of course China follows suit by never wanting to stick it's neck out on the line for anything. 12 years and many, many resolutions later Saddam has not complied with any of the resolutions. The UN is now a useless body that goes in circles over issues (ever notice their 'round' shaped assembly???).

Support our troops, our Nation, and our President.

God Bless America.

E

PS - Tom Daschle and his recent comments are repulsive.

I did hear today that France is sending 20 of their newest main battle tanks to aid in the Iraq efforts. It has turbine power and a new 6 speed transmission. . . 5 reverse speeds and one forward speed. . . . just in case of an attack from the rear.

HAHAHA!!

That's a good one, Medik.

Seriously though, I heard that the French are now back-pedaling. They say that if Sadaam uses WMD's in this conflict, that they will send troops and equipment to aid in the attack.

Yeah...that'll help. Let's see, how long do you think it will take for the French to assemble and ship any significant number of troops or machines to the front line. My money says that the conflict would be over before France could get its foot in (unless Iraq throws some crazy curve ball that we haven't planned for).

Exactly, and exactly why the French can make such a promise, because they know they will never have to back it up. Just another sign of thier bullcrap.......
