Default GT-40P heads without fresh air tube hook up??

I have a set of GT-40P heads and they dont have the hookup for the fresh air tube. From what I understand, Ford used those same heads on the 5.0 Explorers. If they used the same type of head then wouldnt they have the fresh air tube hookup? I am wondering if my heads have the inside designed but no hole in the back drilled. Anyone have any ideas to this?

Explorers have external EGR that runs of the exhaust manifold. Ours have them in the head and goes through the middle of the intake and then to the spacer. None of that on the Explorers. You can eliminate the EGR, but you will get a check engine lamp and a stored code.

I have a '94 and my EGR runs from the header. You have the old setup because its the older fox style. The fresh air tube that runs off the heads have nothing to do with the EGR.

Those are thermactor fitting holes that are in the back of your mustang heads and yes the "P" heads have all the provisions except for the tapped hole. If you look at some of the suppliers for the "P" heads they offer to machine this into the heads for an additional fee (100.00) I think.

Right.. I knew it was for the thermactor setup. For the past couple years I just went and bypassed that. I have the engine out and will be putting in a stroker. I might be moving out to Washington and they do emission checks there. That is why I wondered about those holes.

Default Check This

There's an outfit in Indiana that works on P's, sells them
with larger SS valves, better seals, etc. They recently
added the air tube drilling as an option, maybe they
could help.

Cleveland, 1-440-716-1903

Bill Klein billklein@juno.com

check on ebay, they often list them there

Default Headfixers

Oops - I guess that Bill Klein maybe isn't the outfit I was thinking about. Check ebay right now - the Headfixers outfit has a set on there right now.

Hopefully I was able to attach the ebay page here.
(Didn't work, can't save as the right type of file)

Their ebay user id is Headfixers, but that's not their email.
They're in Evansville IN.
