Anyone have the battery in the back?
Where are you grounding your negative wire going to the negative terminal? I had mine bolted into the rear with the gas tank strap (pass. side) and I had big problems with the starter dragging once the car was hot. I didn't want to drill into the subframes because I have steel braided fuel line running down the subframe and there's not much room, plus the negative cable is really short. The other weird thing was when the starter was dragging the negative terminal was reading -2.4 vlts....??

I had my amp grounded to the rear-seat frame. That should be about the same thing. Just undo one of the bolts on the folding back seat and install your ring terminal, then bolt her on down. You could also try grounding it to the floor pan.

Mine is grounded on the seatbelt bolt. Just unbolt the seatbelt and put it back in with your ground wire attached and you're done. Works great.

From my friends experiences, they got a ground cable to go the length of the car back to the engine bay so it would be just like the batterty was up front. Why? B/c they say the eec-iv had a grounding problem and shorted out and wouldn't work. Thats what i have also read in alot of tech articles.

There are thousands of people who ground their battery to the back area of the car and it works fine. You can use the quad shock bracket as well. You want the ground cable to be no more than a couple feet long. I definitely would not run it the length of the car.
The EEC has it's own grounding cables/wires. As long as you kept them in tact you will be fine. |

SO do you think that grounding to the gas tank strap boss is a bad ground and the cause for my negative voltage reading of -1.6??
I can't understand that negative voltage reading for the life of me.... On a side note, I noticed the other day that my idle changed slightly when I rolled my windows up....maybe that bad ground is the reason? i ground mine to the rear support and wired in a cut off at the same time but as for the window ground my stereo cuts out when the window is half up.
as for the strap there its woven wire and there notorice for bad conductivity its not really a positive ground just a discharge ground like replacing a engine stap that glows red with 4 gauge wire and it stops hope the car works out for you.

Your solution is simple,I have my battery in the back also, with the ground to the frame, what I DID do is run an extra ground to the engine from the firewall, never had a starting problem.
