Well, as most of you, and alot of you do not, my 11 1/2 year old Pomeranian is not doing very well. She was my 'training' baby. I had her since she was 6 weeks old. I was 5 weeks pregnant when I got her. She was my FIRST dog I ever owned in my LIFE!!

My vet recommended her for a Clinical Study about Canines in Congestive Heart Failure. I think what we've been doing is not effective anymore....I just medicated her AGAIN. She takes and anti-spasmodic for her cough, and LASIX a fluid pill to help relieve the fluid retention in her lungs and heart. She cannot be picked up w/ out going into a coughing fit, because of the pressure on her body. She weighs TWICE what she weighed last year. And she still does the stairs, but cannot breathe after.

They will do a complete workup, echochardiogram, cardiac eval. and physical. We will try the drugs they recommend. It is all FREE because it is a Clinical Trial. It was highly recommended by our vet...He is our Saviour and has never steered us wrong, with ANY of our dogs, including KoKo my 11 year old pom and Racie, my 8 month old Chiwahwah puppy...

I had a 'talk' w/ Kinde tonight for a while...looking into her big BLACK eyes, I told her if she does 'go' to PLEASE do it while she is here with me, and NOT w/ her dad...I could not bear the thought of her passing, and I could not tell her goodbye. She tipped her head and licked my face, like she knew what I was saying.

We will know better after all the results are in what we are up against, and how bad it is and hopefully what we are looking for as far as the rest of her 'life span'. I just feel like she has gotten SO bad in the past month.....she eats, sleeps, and drinks. But, shes just no spunk, and gets so winded, and coughs constantly...I just try to make her as comfortable as possible.

I might have posted on this before, but its on my mind, and its happening...and I just felt the need to post it again...I'll keep ya'll up to date on what happens on Thursday. I'm sure we will prolly not know the results of the results of the tests right off the bat.

i know how you feel cc, our daughter brought our rotty back this past weekend, she has heartworm's & got hit really hard by a car as a pup, she's only 4 but just lay's around, i told them to put her to sleep, but they brought my old shadow home, i know what i have to do , but it is killing me, i just cant stand the thought, but i know it will have to be done.funny how you can count on a dog more than people sometimes, i've been putting it off, but, i guess, i'm gonna give shadow about 2 more week's, then. well.

Hey ya'll...
Thanks for the well wishes! Kinde was not a candidate for the study. Evidently she is not in Heart Failure, although, she does have a problem w/ her heart. They did give her some meds and they seem to be helping w/ her coughing and her breathing problems....my ex says that she is a little 'spacy' from the meds. But she seems happy and not coughing as much.
Her test results will be in next week...I am anxious to get them and see exactly what is going on with her and how her health is. I will let ya'll know what the results say. I will be getting her tomorrow, with KoKo and Caitlin till Wednesday.
