![]() Ok, I'm looking to get a torque converter as well as a transmission....does anyone have any recommendations as far as brand? I hear the TCI Street Fighter is a great, cheap converter....
What stall speed would be the best for my combination? My power curve doesn't really get strong until 3000 rpms...so I was thinking a 3000 stall, 12" converter....BUT, this is going to be a daily driver.... That's the problem...I think 3000 is too much stall for a daily...what would it behave like? Would I constantly be running around at almost 3000 rpms?? Thanks all.

![]() 3000 stall is just about perfect for your combo. My Mustang is a 5spd but the 67 Camaro I had before was a Turbo 350, 4:11 gears with a B&M 3000 stall Superholeshot converter. It drove great on the street. That stall is NOT where it will rpm to all the time. You've got great gears to match that stall converter. DO IT - you won't regret it!

![]() What kind of overdrive cruise rpms should I expect at about 45 with the 3000 stall? Right now it sits at around 1600-1700 rpms at 45 mph in top gear.

![]() The RPMs at a certain speed shouldnt change... You arent changing any gearings.....
I cant say I know for sure... but I'm to understand that the STALL speed of a torque converter is the speed at wich is will not slip at ALL... though it doesnt mean it wont catch before that... if there isnt anything keeping it from spinning, like your foot on the brake, it'll still move your car... it's not just RPMs but TORQUE too...I read posts about people getting certain stall speeds and they are stalling much earlier cause thier motors dont have enough torque to take them all the way to that RPM... even with a 3000 stall if you are in drive and you give it gas it will move LONG before 3000 -as

![]() Alright...I gotcha man. I was worried about it barely catching at all until that rpm... Think I'm gonna get that 3000 stall....

![]() My Car was a summer only car, so I ran the trans on it's own independent cooler - didn't run it through the radiator. If you need winter warming for the trans use a cooler in series with the radiator.

![]() I know about the stall causing heat already..which is why, when the trans is going in, I'm gonna tell them to throw in the biggest g*ddamn trans cooler they can get their hands on. I'll probably get a B&M Supercooler or something... That's definitely on the list, so heat isn't a concern.
