![]() First off i'll tell you about my motor. A stock short block, f303 cam, aluminum gt-40 heads(y303), gt-40 upper and lower, 24# injectors, 65mm TB, 70mm MAF, mac equal length shorties, "cobra" MAF conversion from frpp, 1.6 roller rockers. That's my motor in a nut shell. Basically i tried to duplicate the GT-40 crate motor FRPP sells, but with a different cam. The advertisement claims 320 hp.This sounds good, but today I went to the dyno to get the real scoop.
I managed to get 243.7rwhp and 273.5rwtrq is this about right. I thought it would be higher, or maybe i'm living in a farytale. Anyway i didn't mean to drag it out, but I would like some opinios. Thanks |

![]() The Gt40 crate motor makes 302hp, and 331tq at the motor,(said in my latest mag.) So that's pretty close. A stock 89 stang makes around 190hp at the rear wheels I believe. So that's not bad figures.

![]() Not too bad at all. If you account for 15-20% of parasitic drag your making around 300 HP. What RPM did you make peak HP?

![]() seems kinda low to me too... what altitude are you at? it also depends on the dyno type too... FWIW , I pulled 255rwhp and 293 rwtq with AFR heads, stock cam, 1.7s' and stock headers....you should be making more than me.

![]() My neighbor's 89 Saleen has a GT-40 upper, Ported GT-40 irons (Cobra Heads) Ecam, exhaust, rockers, 75mm bullet, 65mm TB....He made 247 rwhp.
Before my Blower I made 308 rwhp, and before my new MAF, and with the E cam, I made 280...with TFS TW's. So I'd say you are about right. They say that the Alum GT-40's add about 35-40 rwhp. Motor Trend, however, did test a 95 Steeda with the GT-40 Aluminum Heads, and Intakes, and E cam...279 rwhp. Just in the tune. You are prolly sittin around 103 in the ¼. ------------------ Dustin Saleenized 89 GT,428 rwhp,TFS Street Heat Intake,TFS TW Heads,TFS #2 cam,BD-11A 9 psi,FRPP 1.6 rr's,BBK 70mm TB,Pro-M 75mm Bullet,MSD 6BTM, FMS 9mm wires,BBK longtubes,BBK Short H-pipe,American Thunder cat back,3.55's 12.3@119 [This message has been edited by SaleenGTS (edited 07-02-2001).] |
