Hi everyone out there. New to the site, but have owned my 1990 LX 5.0 for over 10 years and it has been alot of fun. We also have a 67 GTA (my man's high school car) that is ready for resto.

I am considering building a 68 GT500KR convertible clone.
How does everyone feel about clones? Would anyone be willing to help with ideas and where would be the best place to post questions? I am not looking for resale, just a car that makes me happy.

Thank you,
Karen

Welcome to Mustang Works!
Looks like you have some great cars!
As for the clone... I may be in the minority, but I say go for it! Whatever makes you happy! That's what it's all about! Just as long as you don't try to pass it off as the real deal, it's all good!

Welcome to the funny farm! Good to have you aboard. Sounds like you have some nice projects. The clone idea is fine with me, as long as you do it right, wouldn't want to dissapoint now would we This is a great place for ideas and questions, just don't be afraid to ask.

Light Em Up!!!

Well, I've had my 89 for what... 13yrs now, damn! I've had alot of pride in ownership myself.

Clones.. hmmm. well. A car like you are building I have absolutely no problem with, those cars are rare as it is. The problem I have with clones is the v6 cars that add the cobra front bumper cover with matching tags. I hate that crap. Saleen body kit on a v6 is fine but not for me, I hate it. Its usually the teenage kids that try to pass them off as being the real article that get the most attention and dilute the pride of ownership for the ones that do have the real article. That's the problem I have with it.

You should have no problems with any of that with what you are building, you already realize its personal and not for resale. Just make sure you put some power in it.

Thank you for the warm welcome! There are alot of nice and informative people on this site. The clone issue seems to be okay and I'm glad since I don't think I can afford a real Shelby. And if I did, I probably wouldn't feel comfortable driving it. I want a car that I can enjoy and I know it won't be cheap to build a clone. Thanks for the help
