![]() i have a 90 mustang, the list of mods are listed below. Yesterday i drove my car all day running around, car was running and starting up NO PROBLEM, lastnight i go out to my car to cruise around , and my car doesnt start! when i turned the key the motor would just keep turning , and turning , but never start up! i checked my plugs, wires ,ignition coil giving plenty of spark i didnt know what was goin on, i then decided to stuff the gas pedal to the floor while cranking the motor , and it started up !
This morning i had the same problem, i had to stuff it to get it start. But i notice the cars bogging at low RPM, but when i get to 3 grand it wakes up. but the bogging is feeling like it getting worse. the plugs and wires are new, fuel filter is new, i have a 255 lph fuel pump.... i dont know.. PLEASE HELP ME !!

1990 Mustang GT Engine- 308 (bored .40 over) Probe Forged pistons (10.5:1), Scat forged crank and rods, w/Main Girdle, AFR 185 heads, GT-40 intake, CSI electric water pump. AC delete kit, No smog pump, Manual rack and pinion steering. Ignition- MSD 6AL, MSD Blaster coil, MSD hellicore wires. Drive Train- Tremic 3550, Alum. Drive shaft, 3:73 gears, Stock carrier and axels. 26X11.5 M/T Et streets. Power adder- 175 shot of laughing gas. Best ET 11.5 @120mph on squeeze, 12.4 @109mph on muscle (on gt40 heads) on the 185 heads ... ??? tba |

![]() I beleive you are running way to rich, probably by a fuel pressure regulator going bad (is it stock) or something along that line. It will start with your foot on the floor because the injectors shut off and the throttle blade all the way open helps with evaporation and a better A/F mixture. This would also cause the car to run like *** down low because it is just flooding out.

![]() That exact thing happened to me, too. It was the TPS. The car ran fine all day, but when I met up with a bunch of friends that night on the blvd it stranded me. In front of everyone of course!

![]() Well , its Sunday and i got the whole day off, im gonna try to get my car up to snuff. im gonna check my fuel preasure, and my TPS (i want to get my TPS to .99 right ?)
Sedanman , My motor is brand new 10.5:1 compression with a 150 shot of spray (wet), I DONT have a 6AL box , ignition is basically stock (except for an MSD blaster coil) an when i hit the juice it would backfire like crazy, i figured TO LEAN ! so i retarted my timing down to 8 degrees, and it still BACKFIRED! the car would run great w/out juice, take it to the track, runs 12.50's all day (on motor) i didnt get it , but then i thought about it... Maybe cause of my 10.5:1, and the 150 shot , maybe my spark was blowing out , so i gapped my plugs down to 30, i was right and the backfiring STOPED, and the car ran tits ! .... This was the only mod, i have made to the car (and NO i didnt leave my Timing at 8 degrees i took it back up to 14) in months. and i gapped these plugs 3 weeks ago, i started and drivin my car 1000 times since then.. is it posible that the gap on my plugs have anything to do with my car running cruddy ?? and why would i have a problem now 3 weeks later ? im gonna check my fuel preasure, and my TPS (i want to get my TPS to .99 right ?) what about my O2's to think they might be bad ? any feedback would be great !

![]() It could definately be the TPS sensor. Double check your FP and your timming. Also read the plugs how do they look? What is the current gap?

![]() Sedanman, i lookedat the plugs , and they looked a lil burnt, and cylinders # 6 and # 2 , were soaked in gas. my gap and roter also has alot of crud on the contacts.. so i bought and installed new Autolite platinum plugs, an new cap and rotor.
i gapped my plugs at .40, i checked the TPS, and i set it to .96 volts, car still runs like assss. i also went and picked up a 6AL box. As far as Timing goes, i ***ked my whole **** up yesterday, i have one of those ajustable weight balancers made by "profestional products" wanted to make a new 0 degree whiteout strip on my balancer, so my stupid *** put carb cleaner to melt away the strip, and it MELTED THE NUMBERS ON MY BALANCER !! I DONT KNOW WHERE 0 DEGREES is NOW !! and NO theres no MARKS OR NOTCHES on this balancer to show 0 degrees ! i looked for an hour theres NOTHING ! How do i know wheres 0 degrees now w/out buying a new balancer !??

![]() Put the motor on exact TDC on the compression stroke and the timing pointer will be pointing at "0".

![]() Do what dark 5.0 said. Basiclly pull the number one spark plug and turn the motor over by putting a socket wrench on the harmonic balancer bolt and turn the motor over tell you can either feel the piston at top dead center (TDC) or just put your finger over the spark plug hole and feel for the air to come out as the piston goes up. Then you have 0. It sounds like #2 and #6 are not firing. I would check for spark at these two points.
